my wife is looking for health insurance and has found one that has a $1200 deductable but she says it is cheeper than a few others. is that normal? $1200 deductible for one person just seems like a bit much to me. and the company hasnt asked her why she needs insurance. i thought you could only get insurance during certain periods like a few weeks a year or if there was a major change in your life, like a marriage, divorce, or loss of other isurance or something. my wife is telling me thats not the case but i need to be sure. we just got married a month and a half ago so im hoping that will help. any advice would be great.

okay, so I went to the dentist last year and he told me I had a spot of a cavity but he would wait the 6 months to fill it. well, I was supposed to go back in April of 2011 but did not have the insurance to go.now, I am going back next week because not only do I have insurance, but the cavity is bothering me. its not sensitive to cold food, but it just throbs a little. I have had plenty of fillings, but have never waited this long to get one filled. now I am worried. there is a brown spot, not a black spot on the tooth. i am 14.

My wife has some hospital bills from a car accident a year ago that were overlooked at the time and ended up being sent to collections. I have been in contact with the collection agency, I made the mistake of talking to them over the phone before doing my homework.
As it stands right now, they have offered me a settlement of about 51% of the total.Some time passed as I'm trying to get the insurance company to pay the tab (thats a whole different story)and now they have given me a settlement that is 70% of the total, they went up. While talking to them on the phone I asked them why they number went up, and they offered me the original number provided I could pay it today…So I think they are still willing to negotiate.
My question is how should I do this.I have read online about how I should do all negations in writing, I wish I would have read that earlier, but I didn't. Should I use an agreement to compromise debt form I have found online and just put in the value I want to pay, say 25-30%, and let them counter offer?Or should I negotiate a price over the phone and then request paperwork before sending any money? That seems to be a much more efficient way to do thing to me, as the mail back and forth could take weeks or months.
The other concern I have is the value of this debt.I don't want to give any exact figures, mainly because that's my business… the original value is over $10,000, so they could be inclined to pursue legal action as it could be cost effective for them. Given that, I don't want to push too hard and get burned.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I should deal with this?

I am literally crying because I'm so stressed. I can't afford to pay my bills, my car needs work and I don't have the money, I can only work weekends so I don't make a lot and I have school through the week and I'm trying to stay on the deans list so I'm always stressed. I don't know what to do. I only have enough money for next semesters tuition, and unless I get a loan to fix my car and pay my rent & insurance that tuition will be useless because I won't be able to get there. I don't even know if I can get a loan. What can I do? I work my *** off with school and work to the point where I literally fall asleep within a minute of laying down. I need more money but my whole family is poor and don't have any savings put aside. I don't know what to do, quitting school is NOT an option for me, I'm 24 and I need to start up a good job.

i have a really high probability of having both. im not making it up. ive always had them, but i never actually put 2 and 2 together until this past year. i also probably have depression (started 3 years back, but thats a long story). im in college and we have school counselors. the only thing is that i dont feel comfortable telling them stuff and im not sure they can diagnose me or prescribe me to get tested. i havent told my parents about any of this nor do i want to because my dad will think im being a b*tch and my mom will ask me about things i dont want to talk about. and then she'll tell everyone else about my business. i also cant afford getting tested and seeing a therapist on my own. im only 18 and a poor college student. plus the fact that im under my parents insurance and i would feel crappy that they would have to spend the money on me to go to therapy however many days a week.
the only thing i think would work is if i did get one of the counselors or a doctor next time i go to advise my parents that i should get tested. that way, i dont have to talk about it myself to them. and i hate feeling so crappy and alone all the time and anxious to the point that i honestly think im going insane.
